How make a better UX design

Right now almost every company has a UI designer, but not all UI designers know how to make a good UX design. UI and UX are different areas. Because developers write a code for the interface and test it they kinda make a UX.

Developers do not have experience in that area.

If they do not have experience why do they do it? If a developer works on the same application for 1–2 years eventually he will understand why users use this application and how they are doing it. At the same point he will have some ideas for improving UX.

Because they know how application works doesn’t make them UX specialists.

They know the application too well.

They know what all these buttons are for. They can not just forget all that information and act like they use an application for the first time.

Sometimes it’s better to observe how your friends or colleges use your application.

If you do not have experience in UX here are some tips.

Always ask questions about applications.

Let’s somebody call me while I am using the application. After I finish a phone conversation will the application tell me what my intentions were. Why do I see what I see? What I wanted to do before a call. If the answer is no this window or web page must have more information.

What should I choose from a dropdown menu or make a small table instead? How many options will you have here? 35 is too much for a dropdown. Also it will be good to have a search field that will give a user opportunity to find what he wants very fast.

Books

If you are making a UX design a lot, probably you need to read couple books about it like “The Design of Everyday Things”, by Donald A. Norman, “Don’t Make Me Think: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability”, by Steve Krug.

My last tip is use the applications of those who have the functionality that you want to do.
